BACKGROUND

As part of its expansion drive, Farm Services Unit wishes to recruit a highly motivated and suitable person to fill the following existing vacancy, tenable at its Head Office in Kanengo, Lilongwe.

Job Title: Data Analyst

Job Purpose

The position holder shall be responsible for quality data collection and analysis of the same collected through the Farmer Services Unit (FSU) Agronaut/Extension Officers team. Furthermore, the incumbent shall be tasked with provision of timely support to the FSU Team in Report compilation and making presentations to relevant authorities to help the department make data driven decisions.

Key Functions

Timely provision of System support and maintenance

  • Managing FSU’s central information system by liaising with software providers as well adding relevant aspects to the system.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving all technical challenges being faced by the team.

Conduction of a thorough Data Analysis & Research

  • Evaluating the unit’s performance by tracking business activities and their associated impact.
  • Timely conduction of data analysis from fertilizer trials that are done across Malawi for Management’s informed decision-making
  • Actively involved in the establishment and maintenance of key external partnerships through ad-hoc analysis of farmer socioeconomics.
  • Conducting ad-hoc surveys to assist business partners with market research and business development
  • Designing, coding, and deploying all survey and data collection tools for FSU and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Conducting a detailed and thorough analysis of data collected and making presentations to internal and external stakeholders on agreed intervals

Training & Capacity Building

  • Periodic production of Training materials and conducting refresher trainings for all relevant FSU Staff
  • Provision of support to the FSU Team either though interface meeting or on Remote Desktop Support basis

Qualifications, Experience and Minimum Skills Required

  • Relevant Degree with a bias in Mathematics, Statics, Economics or a closely linked field obtained from a reputable and recognised institution
  • A minimum of 5 years practical experience in a closely related role
  • Knowledge and interest in agriculture
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Previous experience in working with donors and Project Proposals Writing skills.
