The Sugarcane Growers Association of Malawi (SUGAM), is the apex, national body for smallholder sugarcane growers who grow sugarcane for industrial purposes. The association was established in 2014. In May 2018, the organization was registered with the government of Malawi under the Trustees Incorporation Act.

SUGAM is seeking the services of qualified candidates for the following post:



  • Provide overall technical expertise and management of all agricultural related programmes, projects and activities to growers and associations;
  • Advise management and plan activities that benefit sugarcane growers within the districts of assignment;
  • Engage and build strong relationships with growers and grower associations;
  • Provide sugarcane production extension services to growers;
  • Data collection for action planning including grower training, and locally applicable agricultural interventions;
  • Monitoring and evaluation grower activities and performance through frequent sight visits to sugarcane fields and documenting achievements and challenges;
  • Organize Sugarcane Cutting competitions;
  • Plan and Implement Sugarcane Irrigation Programs and Projects
  • Provide guidance to farmers on variety of government schemes including the subsidy programme for the benefit of farmers;
  • Assist in the formulation of technical proposals and concept notes for the benefit of growers;
  • Undertake any duties delegated by the Executive Secretary.

Only applicants with at least a Malawi Government recognized Diploma in Agriculture, / Agronomy, Community Development, Agricultural Extension, or Agribusiness, a minimum of 3 years experience, general knowledge of in sugarcane production, ability to ride a motorcycle and with high levels of integrity and honesty can apply.
