Dedza Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (Dedza CCJP), being one of the Eight CCJPs in Malawi, is a social, advocacy and lobbying arm of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi. It was established in 1997 by the diocese of Dedza in order to participate in the process of consolidating political change and contribute towards the creation of a just and peaceful society in Dedza Diocese where people’s rights and dignity of humanity are respected at all times. Dedza CCJP in partnership with MISEREOR is implementing 3 years project called Sustainable Rural Development Programme in Dedza. Therefore applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions tenable at its Chafumbwa Sub-Office.

Agriculture Extension Officers (3 Extension Officers and 1 Veterinary Officer)

Job Summary
Planning and implementation of all crops and animals development programs; collecting agricultural information and maintaining data base; Facilitating the dissemination of new agricultural technologies through community mobilization, sensitization and capacity building/farmers trainings; Participation in the organization of the Agricultural open days and field days; Assisting in developing and maintaining sustainable land and water resource management systems; planning and overseeing the implementation of Irrigation farming in the project catchment area, Assisting in preparing regular and periodic technical reports.

Qualification and Experience

  • Maximum of a Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Community Development, Horticulture, Agricultural Extension and Agribusiness management
  • At least three to five years experience in managing Integrated development programming
  • Excellent oral and written analytical communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate-Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Publisher
  • Ability to transfer knowledge through Formal and Informal trainings
  • Be able to ride a motorcycle and to stay in the remote areas of the project sites.
  • Strong Ethical behavior and maturity with ability to work with rural community members.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multitasks and priotised workload.
