Overview

Public Service Pension Trust Fund is an Institution which was established in compliance with Pension Act (CAP 55:02) to oversee the administration of the Public Service Contributory Pension Scheme.

The Fund is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the following positions that exist at Secretariat Office on an annual contracts renewable.

POST: ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

GRADE:  PTES

REPORTING TO: ACCOUNTANT

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To be responsible for the processing of payments, and.management and accounting for financial resources, assets and supplies in the Fund.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants must be in possession of Diploma in Accounting obtained from recognized Institution plus 2 years of working.experience in accounting.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and facilitate approval of payments and other financial transactions
  • Make follow up and collection of al banking related documents
  • Effect data entry into the accounting system
  • Maintain contributions records
  • Receive and acknowledge payment receipts
  • Prepare payment and journal vouchers
  • Process petty cash payments
  • Write cheques
  • Maintain cash books and subsidiary books
  • Prepare bank reconciliation statements, debtor schedules and reconcile them with general ledger
  • Make follow up of debts to ensure prompt collection
  • Participate in preparation of audit schedules
  • Manage supplies stores.

COMPETENCIES AND APTITUDES

The post holder should have basic knowledge in stores management, should have honesty and integrity, computer literate and attention to detail.
