Chemonics International Inc, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, seeks the following long-term positions for the USAID Next Generation Early Grade Reading Activity (NextGen) in Malawi.

The $75 million activity aims to solidify and build on the contributions made to date as part of the implementation of Malawi’s National Reading Program (NRP) towards improving the delivery of high-quality early primary reading instruction in all Malawian primary schools.

Data Lead

Chemonics International Inc, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, seeks a Data Lead for the USAID Next Generation Early Grade Reading Activity (NextGen) in Malawi. The $75 million activity aims to solidify and build on the contributions made to date as part of the implementation of Malawi’s National Reading Program (NRP) towards improving the delivery of high-quality early primary reading instruction in all Malawian primary schools. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of Malawi’s lower primary students.

This is a long-term position that will be based in Lilongwe, Malawi.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Works closely with Senior Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist to maintain the overall monitoring and evaluation system and track progress towards meeting expected and indicator targets and results.
  • Manages project data in DevResults software and interprets/visualizes data to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Develops data collection tools to inform project activities
  • Builds evidence base through monitoring, evaluation, and learning, working closely with the technical team and local and international partners
  • Promotes data quality, including through data quality assessments
  • Contributes to project deliverables, including annual work planning; monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports; monitoring, evaluation, and learning plan; and other relevant technical deliverables.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in monitoring and evaluation, statistics, or relevant area
  • At least five years’ experience developing and implementing monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems and completing MEL reporting
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience using statistical software and data visualization applications preferred
  • Advanced level of written and oral communications skills (presentation, infographics, insight gathering, etc.)
  • Proven experience building relationships and facilitating learning about how to improve project work preferred.
  • Experience with a USAID-funded project highly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Written and spoken proficiency in English and Chichewa required.
