Chemonics International Inc, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, seeks the following long-term positions for the USAID Next Generation Early Grade Reading Activity (NextGen) in Malawi.

The $75 million activity aims to solidify and build on the contributions made to date as part of the implementation of Malawi’s National Reading Program (NRP) towards improving the delivery of high-quality early primary reading instruction in all Malawian primary schools.

We are currently seeking qualified professionals for the following posts to be based out of Lilongwe, Malawi, unless otherwise noted.


Drivers, who will be responsible for driving and maintaining project vehicles. Drivers will initiate and supervise required repairs and routine maintenance of assigned vehicles.

They will be expected to fulfill project reporting requirements and maintain records on vehicle routing and condition, and ensure passenger safety by obeying traffic laws and driving carefully.


  • Valid Malawian driver’s license and good driving record required
  • 5 years of experience of progressively responsible driving work
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working for a U.S. company or NGO in Malawi preferred
  • Understanding of auto mechanics required. Certification in Mechanics or Automobile Maintenance beneficial
  • Ability to maintain discretion and exercise confidentiality
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
