TITLE: OPERATIONS OFFICER

REPORT TO: GENERAL MANAGER

GRADE: CS 4

RESPONSIBLE FOR: OPERATIONS EXECUTIVES AND SUPERVISORS

SUMMARY OF THE JOB TITLE
The Operations Officer is one of the senior management positions within the ranks in the company. The main purpose of the position is to provide leadership, management of financial resources and monitoring of food production, plan and execute strategic policies of the company, provide communication channels between Management and operative staff for smooth operations of the company. Taking full responsibilities of all substantial operational controls, conducting quality checks on all outlets in the company.

The officer shall provide support on work processes that addresses food safety and hygiene and quality issues by conducting period audits and executes safety and security measures of raw materials and products. The position will also be responsible for managing staff in conjunction with Operations Executives, other Senior Managers and supervisors, handle customer complaints from airlines, restaurants and Mpale Cultural Village, and all other businesses.

The following are some of the major duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality food and other products are produced in all outlets
  • Train, mentor and coach chefs, waiters, waitresses, cleaners and all other production staff
  • Formulate and implement standard operating procedures for the kitchen, restaurant and lodge
  • Formulate and produce new food menus
  • Coordinate all outlets with top management
  • Carry out checks on the quantity, quality and classification of food and beverages based on order information.
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene and quality standards are followed
  • Interpret and follow safety and security standards for teams
  • Process raw materials based on menu cycles and projected passenger loads for all Airlines
  • Provide on-the-job training to team members on day-to-day tasks
  • Verify all meal orders, numbers and schedules with airlines.
  • Have excellent understanding and product knowledge of all items on menus and beverage list
  • Preparations of budgets, projections and implementation of the budget activities
  • Regularly liaising with the General Manager on all matters concerning operation activities and ensuring that daily/weekly/monthly reports for the outlet are circulated, accurate, for up to date decision making
  • Ensuring tight stock controls and that budgeted margins are maintained and followed
  • Conducting staff performance appraisals as stipulated.
  • Inspect operating equipment and work areas to ensure efficiency service and conformity to Standard Operating Procedure
  • Recommend measures for improving work procedures and work performance to increase service delivery, quality and enhance job safety.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Business Administration/Entrepreneurship) or any related field.
  • MSCE
  • At least 3 to 5 years work experience in a similar senior position.
