Chemonics International Inc, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, seeks the following long-term positions for the USAID Next Generation Early Grade Reading Activity (NextGen) in Malawi.

The $75 million activity aims to solidify and build on the contributions made to date as part of the implementation of Malawi’s National Reading Program (NRP) towards improving the delivery of high-quality early primary reading instruction in all Malawian primary schools.

We are currently seeking qualified professionals for the following posts to be based out of Lilongwe, Malawi, unless otherwise noted.


Procurement and Subcontracts Assistant, who will assist the procurement and subcontracts managers with the solicitation, selection, and negotiation process with all vendors to ensure that procurements comply with USAID rules and regulations, Chemonics policies and procedures, and local or U.S. government laws.

S/he will be responsible for maintaining electronic and hard-copy subcontract and procurement files, communicating with subcontractors/vendors, tracking subcontract/procurements reporting requirements.


  • A Bachelor’s degree and/or a certification in Accounting or Financial Management.
  • At least 3 years’ procurement, logistics, and/or subcontract management experience with projects financed by USAID or an international NGO required.
  • Thorough knowledge of USAID and its procurement policies strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Written and spoken proficiency in English required.
