The Malawi Adventist University would like to recruit qualified and suitable persons to fill the following vacant positions tenable at Malamulo College of Health Sciences campus;

1. Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Child Health Nursing (1 Position)

Reporting to: Head of Nursing & Midwifery Department

Education & Experience

Master of Science in Paediatrics or Child Health/ Nursing plus a Bachelors in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery obtained from a reputable and accredited institution of higher learning. Must have at least 3 years of clinical experience and be duly registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi. Nursing and Midwifery education qualification and background will be an added advantage

 

2. Lecturers/ Assistant Lecturers in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology (6 positions)

Reporting to: Head of Clinical Medicine Department

Education & Experience

An MSc and BSc in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS or any other related qualification obtained from a recognized and accredited university. Must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi. A higher qualification is an added advantage. A minimum of two (2) years teaching experience at a secondary or tertiary healthy facility or an academic institution.

Ability to work with minimum supervision and with good communication skills.

 

3. Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences (4 positions)

Reporting to: Head of Biomedical Sciences Department

Education & Experience

A Master of Science in Clinical Biochemistry (Clinical Chemistry or (Medical Biochemistry), Clinical Pathology, Immunology, or Parasitology, Haematology obtained from a recognized and accredited university. MSc in Cell Physiology and or Cytophathology is more preferable. Must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi. A higher qualification is an added advantage. A minimum of two (2) years hands on experience in the medical laboratory field.

 

4. Lecturer in Physics and Mathematics (1 position) 
Reporting to: Head of Basic Sciences Department

Education & Experience
MSc in Physics/Mathematics or related field and BSc in Physics/Mathematics/Statistics or related combination.

 

5. Lecturer in Human Anatomy and Physiology (1 position)

Reporting to: Head of Basic Sciences Department

Education & Experience
MSc in Anatomy and Physiology or related specialization and BSc in Biology/Physiology/ Physiotherapy or related area of Study. Those with medical background of any level of qualification will have added advantage.

 

6. Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in Environmental Health (1 position)
Reporting to: Head of Public Health Department

Education & Experience
A Master of Science in Environmental Health or related discipline of study obtained from a recognized and accredited university. Must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi. A higher qualification is an added advantage. A minimum of two (2) years of teaching at tertiary level.

Key Duties and Responsibilities of a Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer Position

The main elements of the job are as follows:
• Teaching and devising the best learning approaches for students
• Assisting students’ academic work and doing student supervision.
• Carrying out research, consultancy and outreach activities.
• Scholarly publishing.
• Participating in curriculum development and/or curriculum revision.
• Providing academic guidance to students.
• Mentoring junior generation of academics.
• Community engagement for transformation
• Integration of faith and learning
