Overview
National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA)โs mandate is to deliver a stable, secure and affordable fuel supply in Malawi. Its main activities, include:
- Management and replenishment of the Countryโs 60 million litres Strategic Fuel Reserves (SFRs). These SFRs are situated in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu, and smaller depots in Chilumba, Chipoka and Mchinji.
- Procuring and handling fuel importation fuel and related logistics.
- Provision of hospitality to facilitate distribution of petroleum products in the country.
NOCMA is wholly owned by Malawi Government. It is established under the Companyโs Act of 1984. NOCMA was incorporated on the 10th of December 2010 and commenced its operations in 2012. NOCMA
Over the past thirteen (13) years, the Company has grown tremendously in its national strategic importance with its fuel importation market share growing from ten percent (10%) in 2015 to an average of sixty-five percent (65%) in 2023/2024 and this has been matched with growth in institutional capacity and investments to enable efficiency and effectiveness in executing its mandate.
In its drive to ensure improved and sustained efficiency and effectiveness in delivery of its mandate, NOCMA is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following highly rewarding posts that have arisen within the Company.

ASSISTANT INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) OFFICER (NOC07) โ CODE: TICTO092024 โ Tenable at Mzuzu Depot
PURPOSE
To support the ICT services by ensuring seamless IT operations across NOCMA, including assisting in IT infrastructure maintenance, providing technical support to users, and contributing to the overall efficiency of IT services.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide first-line technical support by promptly addressing hardware, software, and network issues for NOCMA staff.
2. Assist in maintaining and managing IT infrastructure, performing routine system checks, updates, and backups to ensure system stability.
3. Support network administration by monitoring network performance and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity issues.
4. Assist with software installation, configuration, and updates while ensuring compliance with licensing and security protocols.
5. Provide user support and training and develop documentation to help staff effectively utilize IT equipment and software.
6. Assist in implementing IT security measures and ensure compliance with IT policies, including data protection and cybersecurity.
7. Maintain an inventory of IT assets and assist in the procurement and deployment of hardware and software.
8. Keep accurate documentation of IT systems and procedures and assist in preparing reports for audits.
REPORTING LINE AND RESPONSIBILITY
The position reports to the ICT Officer at Head Office. The post has no responsibility for subordinates.
THE PERSON
The required candidate should have the following competences, skills, and attributes:
a) Drive for results โ Ability to commit to action and assume responsibility and ownership for own performance and the associated outcomes.
b) Works collaboratively with others.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
a) Diploma in Information Communication Technology (ICT) from an accredited institution. Possession of Bachelorโs degree in a related field from an accredited institution will be an added advantage.
b) Minimum of 1 (one) year experience in IT support or a similar role.
c) Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) are advantageous.
