EGPAF has worked in Malawi since 2001. Today, EGPAF Malawi implements evidence-based HIV prevention, care and treatment interventions in 177 health facilities in nine districts through EGPAF’s U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief/U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (PEPFAR/CDC) – funded Achieving HIV Epidemic Control through Scaling Up Quality Testing, Care and Treatment in Malawi.
EGPAF seeks to fill the following open positions:
Title: Associate Finance Officer
Location: Lilongwe, Malawi
Reports to: Senior Finance Officer
How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?
Responsible for supporting all financial and management accounting activities at the Malawi Country Program Office, ensure compliance with EGPAF financial policies and procedures for payments, receipts and cash management, and take completeness and accuracy responsibility of financial accounts for the Country Program.
No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?
- Ensure compliance with EGPAF financial policies and procedures for all financial transactions.
- Process payments due to suppliers/service providers, ensure all required supporting documents substantiating the payment are attached
- Prepare payments relating to staff advances, ensure that outstanding advances are cleared prior to payment of subsequent advance
- Transfer money to EGPAF beneficiaries’ mobile phone accounts for payments relating to all activities taking place at the health facility including meetings, trainings and other activities.
- Post withholding tax transactions in Quick books and prepare report and payments thereof for remittance to MRA
- Prepare VAT reports for submission to CDC by the required date to ensure compliance with donor regulations. Process VAT transactions for submissions to MRA, follow up on status of refund and prepare updates on reimbursements
- Post transaction for both Lilongwe and Blantyre offices in Quick books Accounting System.
- Work hand in hand with the team on month end process by providing required documentation to Regional Finance and Operations Unit
- Work on adjustments of various transaction as requested to ensure consistency in Quick Books and on vouchers
- Ensure proper filing of financial documents in a retrieval matter and ensure safety of such documents
- Provide support to other staff members on finance related transaction or matters with proper guidelines to relevant financial procedures
- Assist on internal & external audit preparations and implementation of recommendations from the audit action plan.
To be successful, you will need to have:
- Diploma in Accounting or its equivalent.
- Be a Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi
- Should possess relevant accounting experience of not less than 5 years in a busy organization and must have sound knowledge of using computers. Practical experience in using computerized accounting packages will be an added advantage.
- Must have ability to work against tight deadlines in a multi-donor and multi program environment
