CLIMATE JUSTICE COMMUNITIES (CJC)
Circle for Integrated Community Development (CICOD) is a Non Governmental Organisation established in 2004 to empower local communities to determine their own development needs through active participation.
It envisions a Malawian society where communities are empowered to address their own development needs
through active participation. CICOD aims to empower the poor, vulnerable and marginalized communities and
households to take a leading and active role in challenging and reducing poverty using integrated rights-based
programming. CICOD anticipates to implement a three year (2023- 2026) Climate Just Communities Project funded by Scottish Government in Phalombe district.CICOD, therefore, invites applications from interested and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:
Job Title: CJC Project Officer (2 Positions)
Reports to: CJC Project Coordinator
Location: Phalombe District
Key Responsibilities:
- Support communities in the technical planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and sustainability of the Climate Just Communities project;
- Support communities in agriculture production, irrigation technologies, watershed management, natural resource management and Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives;
- Facilitate training of farmers in agronomy, postharvest management, agribusiness, group dynamics and governance;
- Facilitate a process to internalise understanding of the project by stakeholders at district and community levels;
- Support training needs assessment, prepare training programmes and undertake training activities for stakeholders at district and community levels;
- Support in the preparation, consolidation and submission of reports, case studies, documentaries, databases;
- Support the generation, identification and consolidation of issues for and preparation of new project technical proposals;
- Participate in all research activities planned and supported by CICOD or/and collaborating partners;
- Maintain close and constant linkage, interface and reference between CICOD and communities as well as between CICOD and other stakeholders;
- Support the preparation of and participating in technical meetings involving project communities/ beneficiaries and/or other CICOD stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in Agriculture/ Agricultural Extension/ Agribusiness/ Agricultural Economics/ Social Work/Community Development.
- At least 7 yearsโ experience in similar project implementation and/or agricultural extension work
