MAC-Communicable Diseases Action Centre (MAC-CDAC) is a university research center at Kamuzu University of Health sciences working on research to address priority global health problems such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, neglected tropical diseases and other communicable diseases. The Centre is looking for self-motivated and talented individuals to fill the positions of Research Nurses and Enumerators to work in the Malaria Prevention in Schools (SMAP) study, a clinical trial to compare drug regimens for chemoprevention in primary school students.
ENUMERATOR (2 POSITIONS) – BLANTYRE
Position summary: Reporting to the Project Coordinator the Enumerator will be required to conduct sensitizations at community level, obtain written consent, perform interviews complete electronic data capture forms, and submit reports to the study coordinator.
Duration of Contract: 11 months
Reporting Line: He/ She will be reporting to the Project Coordinator
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The key responsibilities will include:
- Conduct sensitization at community level.
- Explain the objectives of the study and their procedures to potential participants.
- Obtaining informed consent and ensure that all consent forms are stored per GCP requirements.
- Data collection using electronic gadget.
- Identify and report any issues that may arise while attempting to obtain valid data
- Ensure that the project coordinator is kept informed of completed assignments and progress.
- Provide daily reports and lessons learnt, and challenges to the project coordinator.
- Provide verbal and written daily reports to the coordinator, data team and project team as required.
- Work with the colleagues and study leadership to resolve any issues emanating from the study.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the study coordinator and relevant project team members.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Diploma in relevant fields from recognized institutions including public health, epidemiology, community development or any other health related field.
- Good computer skills with experience in electronic data capture including using tablets
- Excellent verbal communication skills and capacity to establish an empathic relationship with participants.
- Experience in health-related research as well as school health research setting is desirable.
- Those with experience in previous MAC surveys or work will have added advantage
- Must have an up-to-date Human Subject’s Training Certificate from a recognized Institutions.
Remuneration
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as applicable to staff in the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences. KUHES is an equal opportunity employer.
