Overview

Background
Inter Aide is an international non-governmental organization specialised in the implementation of programmes that promote access to development for the most vulnerable communities. Inter Aide has been working in Malawi since 1992 with interventions around Health, Water Maintenance and Agricultural development in the Central and Southern regions of Malawi.

Inter Aide, in collaboration with local partners and the Department of Animal Health and Livestock Development (DAHLD) of the Ministry of Agriculture, has developed an expertise over the last fifteen years
in the implementation of community vaccinators networks to vaccinate chickens against the Newcastle
Disease with an aim of improving nutrition and incomes of small-scale rural producers. Currently, the
program operates in Lilongwe, Zomba, and Phalombe districts and benefits more than 85,000 families.

For this program, Inter Aide is looking to hire two Field facilitators, two M&E Officers and an Administrative
Assistant for a period of one year with the possibility of extension from January 2024.

POSITION 1: FIELD FACILITATOR (2 positions based in Nathenje & Phalombe)
The successful candidates will work under the direct supervision of Field Supervisors. They will work closely
with the regional team, officers from the government structure, community vaccinators associations /sub-associations/clusters, and traditional authorities.

Duties and Responsibilities
In this capacity, the field facilitators will be responsible to:

  • Oversee and coordinate field activities with Community Vaccinators (CVs) and Sub-Associations,
  • Ensure timely distribution of vaccine vials and collection of reports during campaigns.
  • Manage weekly transfer of vial refunds from CVs, ensure proper completion of cash collection forms, accounting, and timely transfer of vaccine funds to the Coordinators.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with CVs and sub-associations.
  • Monitor and control CVs and Sub-Associations’ records of vial refund, attendance registers, and data reports, ensure consistency with Field Facilitator (FF) reports.
  • Identify gaps in coverage, recruit and mentor new CVs to address deficiencies, ensure effective training and support until independence is achieved.
  • Submit fortnightly reports, storage monitoring forms, and data/cash collection forms, promptly to the Coordinator, highlighting any program changes or challenges.
  • Attend and actively participate in Executive Committee (EC) meetings and staff meetings.
  • Network with stakeholders and government structures as well as representing the program in local meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in a fields of Community Development, Social Work, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. A Bachelors’ Degree in these fields will be an advantage.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in community engagement or development work.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and understanding local or government structures is valuable.
  • Sound skills in executing and coordinating field activities.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Chichewa.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Able to work within a strict policy framework regarding employee, partner, and beneficiary allowances/handouts.
  • A Category A or A1 driving license (for motorbike) or willingness to go through a motorbike riding
    training at the beginning of the assignment is mandatory.
