Overview

The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act (Cap. 68:01 of the Laws of Malawi) to regulate the countryโ€™s communications sector.

Under the Communications Act of 2016, MACRA is mandated to regulate and monitor the provision of communications services and ensure that, as far as it is practicable, reliable and affordable communications services are provided throughout Malawi.

The Vision of MACRA Communication Services for a digitally transformed Nation.

In line with its quest for skills development and upliftment within the communication sector, MACRA has embarked on a program to create opportunities for internship and attachment for graduates to get practical work experience which will complement their competence and employability. The Authority, therefore, is looking for persons to be considered for internship. The details of the internship vacancies are as follows:

FINANCE OFFICER (INTERN) (2 POSITIONS)

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Processing internal and other direct payments
  2. Preparing internal and other direct payment reports for management review
  3. Receipting, cashing and undertaking prompt banking.
  4. Disbursing, analyzing and posting of petty cash
  5. Filing payment vouchers, receipts, invoices and other documents
  6. Posting of accounting transactions in the general ledger.
  7. Preparing monthly tax returns.
  8. Processing monthly staff fuel allocations.
  9. Assisting in the of monthly management accounts
  10. Assisting with debtorsโ€™ transactions including filing and pre-invoicing of debtors.
  11. Assisting with correspondence on overdue accounts requiring special handling.
  12. Producing monthly debtorsโ€™ statement analysis every month.
  13. Any other duties assigned by management from time to time

Requisite Qualification

  1. Graduates of Finance, Accounting or related field from a recognised College or University.

Key competencies and attributes

The ideal candidate for the position is expected to have the following:

  1. Knowledge in any accounting or finance package.
  2. Knowledge in Sage will be an added advantage
  3. Knowledge in Computer-excel and word
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  5. Ability to work as part of a team.

DURATION OF INTERNSHIP

The interns shall be engaged on a 1-year contract with a possible extension depending on the needs in the departments.
