THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians, Civil Servants or non-civil servants, as the case may be, depending on the requirements of the post, for the vacancies listed below, existing in the Civil Service:

MINISTRY OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Post: Fisheries Officer (Grade 1)

Salary: Within the (Grade ) salary scale segment

Location: Ministry of Natural Resources and Climate Change

Qualifications
Applicants Should be in possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture Or Bachelor of Science (Chemistry, Physics and Biology).

Duties
(a) Conducting research in fish biology, fish ecology and stock assessment;
(b) Implementing fisheries monitoring control and surveillance programs;
(c) Conducting research in fish breeding, fish nutrition and aquaculture production and systems;
(d) Implementing fish quality and value addition activities among fishing Communities;
(e) Supporting the development and
dissemination of extension messages;
(f) Organizing and conducting training sessions or fish farmers and fishing community Members;
(g) Analyzing and updating capture fisheries and aquaculture data;
(h) Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports;
(i) Carrying out any other duties assigned from time to time.

Note: Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
