CARE is looking for suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions:

IT ASSISTANT – COUNTRY OFFICE, LILONGWE

Position description
The IT Assistant works within the ICT team driving the use of technology in the organization, providing effective IT systems, helping develop and implement IT standards and policies, and providing technology support and solutions to meet the needs of the organization. The IT Assistant will administer the technology infrastructure for the Country Office including the management of software applications and hardware
infrastructure that support ICT operations. The incumbent works closely with other Program Support and other CO staff to achieve the strategic and operational goals of the organization.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following specific duties:

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage for CARE Malawi’s initiatives.
  • Configuration, deployment and management of workstations, laptops and peripheral equipment.
  • Provide software/hardware and system troubleshooting support.
  • Install and upgrade computer hardware and software as per organizational guidelines and industry best practice.
  • Create mailboxes for new staff members.
  • Reset user passwords on ADMP and Okta as and when required.
  • Enforce multi- factor authentication (MFA) for all users.
  • Train users on use of mail tools and available resources for password recovery.
  • Proactively monitor the network ensuring downtimes are identified and resolved with little to no impact to the business.
  • Offer first line support by troubleshooting, cable, wireless and other network infrastructure as needed, escalating for second and third line of support with the CO IT lead if additional support is required.
  • Co-ordinate a quarterly service and maintenance of all IT equipment.
  • Identify non-functional equipment up for disposal according to donor and organizational guidelines.
  • Provide basic user training and dissemination of technological information and updates to all staff in the CO.
  • Autoconfigure endpoints patching and push updates from the online portal in case of failures, ensuring all
    computers are fully patched and scanned bi-monthly.
  • Install and enforce the recommended organizational Operating System (OS) on all endpoints.

Minimum Required Qualifications, skills and relevant work experience

  • University Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information
    technology, Information management).
  • At least three years of working experience in a NGO related field.
  • Network Certifications – (Networking Essentials, N+), Comptia A+ certification.
  • Prior experience in O365, Ms SharePoint, Okta will be an added advantage.
