Post: Learning and development Officer (2 positions)

Reporting to: Human resources and administration manager

Employment Type: Fulltime and Internship


Job Purpose 

Will be responsible for designing and implementing learning and development programs for the organization's employees. They shall also be responsible for assessment of learning needs of the organization and its employees, and create tailored training programs to meet those needs. Arrangement of training as well as evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements as needed. Additionally, they may manage the learning management system by keeping training records and reports.


Major Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities / Deliverables:

1.Develop L&D Policy and Framework:

  • Create, review, and refine the Learning and Development (L&D) policy and framework aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Ensure it complies with relevant regulations.


2.Develop and Implement Induction Policy:

 Design and execute a comprehensive induction program for new employees, covering company values, culture, policies, procedures, and job-specific training to facilitate their integration into the organization.


3.Management of All Trainings - Internal and External:

  • Oversee all training initiatives, both internally developed and external programs. Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and communication to ensure smooth execution.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select internal subject matter experts and external trainers. Establish criteria for vetting trainers and ensure they meet quality standards.


4.Training Material Development for Induction Modules:

 Create and maintain training materials for all induction modules. Regularly update content to ensure relevance and effectiveness.


5.Annual Training for Staff:

 Develop and implement a training schedule that ensures all staff members receive training at least once a year, focusing on skill development, compliance, and career growth.


6.Consolidated Personal Development Plan (PDP) Schedule:

    Establish a system for PDPs, consolidating individual development plans into a cohesive schedule aligned with organizational objectives.

7.Training Calendar Management:

 Create and manage a comprehensive training calendar that includes all planned training sessions, ensuring proper allocation of resources and avoiding scheduling conflicts.

8.Development of Rewards Policy:

  • Design a rewards and recognition policy that incentivizes continuous learning and development. Ensure alignment with employee performance and organizational goals.
  • Conduct benchmarking exercises against industry standards to evaluate the competitiveness and effectiveness of the rewards policy. Make necessary adjustments based on findings.
  • Develop metrics and conduct regular evaluations to assess the effectiveness of the rewards policy in driving employee engagement, retention, and skill enhancement.

9.Annual Rewards Communication and Implementation:

 Communicate annual rewards programs, including bonuses, incentives, and recognition, to employees. Coordinate implementation according to the communicated schedule.

10.Documentation Filing for Relevant Documents:

 Maintain a systematic filing system for all relevant documents related to training, development, rewards, and compliance to ensure easy accessibility and audit readiness.


Qualification, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of a degree in education, Human resources or any business-related filed.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the similar role for the full time position.
