The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), an organization entrusted with the assessment, collection and accounting for tax revenues for the Malawi Government, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates to fill the vacant position of Legal Counsel tenable at its Head Office in Blantyre.

Job Title: Legal Counsel – Drafting
Reporting To : Legal Services Manager
Location: Head Office – Blantyre
Grade: D1
Organizational Unit : Legal Services Division

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drafting and vetting legal documents
• Assisting in law review processes
• Providing legal advice on technical matters
• Conducting civil and criminal litigation

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from a recognized University.
• Admitted to practice Law in the Supreme Court of Malawi, High Court and Courts subordinate thereto.
• Must possess a valid legal practitioner’s licence.
• At least three (3) years post admission experience.
• Experience in drafting; those with experience in legislative drafting will have an added advantage.
• Experience of providing effective legal counsel.
• Experience in civil or criminal litigation.
