ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POSITION
OF LICENSING OFFICER
(GRADE MAGLA 5)
The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) was established under Section 3 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act (2022). MAGLA is the principal agency for the regulation of betting, gaming and lotteries in Malawi.
MAGLA is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position currently existing within the organization:
Position : Licensing Officer
Grade : MAGLA 5
Location : Blantyre
Reporting to : Licensing Manager
Purpose of the Job:
To provide support for all licensing processes, including licensing of operators and individuals engaged in the gaming and lottery industry.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Process applications for registration by the Authority from individuals employed in the gaming and lottery industry
- Keep records of all licences and send reminders for all licence renewals.
- Assist in licence application assessment and issuance processes.
- Undertake all pre and post certification of suitability of manufacturers, suppliers and maintenance providers wherever necessary.
- Undertake all certification activities of gaming equipment and devices.
- Process applications for registration of gaming machines, devices and equipment.
- Evaluate all surveillance systems at gaming and betting establishments.
- Process permits for promotional competitions and attend draws.
- Advise customers on licensing procedures.
- Assess new games for approval by the Authority.
- Conduct gaming and betting site inspections.
- Produce monthly reports pertaining to licensing activities.
- All other activities as mandated by gaming and lotteries laws and regulations.

- The ability to operate effectively both independently and as part of a team
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- The ideal candidate must have a Bachelorโs Degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Business Administration or related areas from an accredited institution.
- Proven work experience in gaming, lottery or related field.
