Post: Loans Officer
Reporting to: Branch manager
Employment Type: Internship
The job purpose of the loan officer is to sell loan to SME customers while creating awareness of SME related products to the general public. They shall also be responsible for collection of SME loans as well as management of Deliquency of their assigned area.
Major Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities / Deliverables:
1.Promotion of SME Products and Services:
- Actively promote all SME products and services.
- Create awareness of available SME loan products and their benefits.
- Engage with potential SME borrowers, both groups and individuals, to assess their financing needs.
- Facilitate the application ensuring adherence to the institution's policies and regulations.
2.Awareness and Education:
- Educate potential borrowers, both groups and individuals, on the various aspects of SME loans, including eligibility criteria, loan terms, and repayment structures.
- Provide guidance and information to clients regarding the benefits and responsibilities associated with SME financing.
3.Assessment of Potential Borrowers:
- Assess the creditworthiness and financial viability of potential SME borrowers
- Evaluate the risk associated with SME loan applications and make informed recommendations to the lending committee.
4.Loan Collection and Monitoring:
- Monitor the repayment status of SME loans, ensuring timely collections and adherence to repayment schedules.
- Proactively address delinquencies by initiating appropriate collection actions and implementing strategies for loan recovery.
5.Performance Observation and Reporting:
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of businesses that have received SME loans.
- Provide regular reports and insights to the Manager, highlighting the trends, challenges, and opportunities observed in the SME loan portfolio.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop strategies for enhancing the performance and sustainability of SME-funded businesses.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in credit assessment, lending, or financial analysis, preferably in SME financing.
- Strong understanding of SME market dynamics, financial statements, and credit risk assessment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in financial analysis tools and loan management software.
- Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance in lending practices.
