Job Title: MIS Manager

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer
Nature of Contract: 3 Years Renewable

The Job:

The MIS Manager will be responsible for proper maintenance of the institution’s ICT systems and ensure that the software components including the loan and savings trackers, and the overall management information system are fully integrated, constantly updated and appropriate to institution’s operational requirements. As head of the MIS department, s/he will also take a lead in the development/customization of needed software and assist management in the procurement and installation of computer hardware as well as ensuring their efficient operation.

Main Responsibilities

1. Maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades computer hardware, software, personal computer networks and other peripheral equipment
2. Manages Company’s information requirements and ensures the efficiency of operating systems and software
3. Ensures accurate, proper and timely transaction processing (data management) and generates up to date information and reports for effective portfolio implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
4. Ensures that the hardware and software of the company are well maintained and
5. Assesses the adequacy of existing software systems and recommends improvement
in the MIS
6. Coordinates the development and/or customization of appropriate software and
assist management in the procurement and installation of computer hardware and
their efficient use
7. Installs, configures and upgrades operating systems and software and possible
integration with Computer Tablets and POSD
8. Develops, implements and manages backups and business recovery strategies for
all components of the Company’s Management Information System
9. Assesses user training needs and trains users in effective use of applications including standard microfinance and administrative software
10. Ensures that reports generated in MIS department are of high professional standards and integrity.
11. Manages and supervises the MIS team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors Degree in computer sciences or related fields
  • Related professional certification in computer system design, data base management and CISCO networking
  • Five years of proven experience in computer installation, maintenance and repair in an MIS department of a financial institution would be an added advantage
  • Technical knowledge of computer hardware, software and peripherals such as servers, monitors, cables, network systems, printers, plotters and modems
  • High proficiency in procedures for installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing applicable software, hardware and peripherals
  • Adequate knowledge of the principles, practices, hardware and software related to the establishment and maintenance of LAN’s and WAN’s
  • Knowledge in mobile phone technology.
