Position Available: Multi-skilled trades Professional (Plumbing, Carpentry/Joinery, and Electrical Expertise)

The Chilema Ecumenical Lay Training and Conference Center, located in Zomba, Malosa, is seeking experienced and highly skilled professionals in the areas of plumbing, carpentry and joinery, and electrical work.

 

Applicant Qualifications:

  • Experience in all aspects of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work, including residential and commercial installations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • For carpentry skills, applicants should be proficient in framing, roofing, custom cabinetry, and interior finishes.
  • For electrical skills, experience in electrical installation, repairs, and maintenance, along with a strong understanding of electrical codes and regulations, is strongly preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems at Chilema Center.
  • Perform duties under industry standards and the center's safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other staff on site.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plumbing, drainage systems, and electrical and carpentry issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Address any additional plumbing, electric, and carpentry tasks that may arise.
  • Provide excellent maintenance services to the center.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in all three respective trades.
  • Valid licenses and certifications in at least one of the skilled trades mentioned above.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
  • At least two (2) years of work experience in any of the skilled trades mentioned above.
  • Physically fit and of sober habits.
