Overview

COMFWB Malawi is a Federation of National Association of business women in Malawi with the objectives of promoting programs that (a) integrate women into Trade and development activities in all sectors of Entrepreneurship (b) improve the economic conditions of women and (c) increase awareness of women in development activities and policies affecting them.

COMFWB implements special programs for women small, medium, and micro enterprises (MSMEs) which creates or support them to have access to Markets, finance and technologies. With this support, SMMEs become competitive and able to effectively participate in the Regional Common Market.

Our Strategic Goals for the coming 3 years for the Chapter include:
(i) Organization growth and Development; ii) Development of Women, their products and Enterprises; iii) Create opportunities for women access to affordable finance; iv) Linkages and Networking with organization with same objectives in Women economic empowerment (v) Advocacy; and vi) Creating opportunities to
access to market for our members. Our Membership are women in business groups, women led and owned Associations and Cooperatives in various entrepreneurship sectors across Malawi.

 

1. VACANCY: NATIONAL PROGRAMMES DIRECTOR
JOB TITLE: National Programme Director
DUTY STATION: Lilongwe, Malawi
CONTRACT DURATION: 1 year Contract
REPORTING TO: The Chairperson of Malawi Chapter

 

SCOPE OF WORK
The National Programmes Director will be responsible for providing effective leadership in the development,
execution, and evaluation of COMFWB Malawi Chapter’s nationwide initiatives. This role involves strategic planning, team management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the effective implementation and impact of the Chapters programs. The Director will collaborate with internal and external partners, drive resource mobilization efforts, and foster a culture of innovation within the team, ultimately contributing to the achievement of the Chapter’s organizational mission and goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and articulate comprehensive national programs strategy aligned with the COMFWB Malawi’s overall mission and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and expansion to address emerging needs and challenges.
  • Ensure that the national programs align with COMFWB Malawi’s long-term goals and vision.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of national programs to achieve defined goals and
    objectives.
  • Keep a diary of Activities; arrange quarterly board meetings for reporting and monitoring and evaluation of programs. Collaborate with management to ensure effective execution of program active

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCE

  • Must possess demonstrated qualities of success in leadership and management and must be able to manage and embrace change, proactively manages risks and lead operational improvements;
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with persons from diverse disciplines,
    perspectives and cultures;
  • Must be of unblemished character and have a high degree of personal integrity, and must be of mature and sober judgement;
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Must be a team player who can inspire, direct and motivate staff;

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be a holder of at least a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Social Science, Business Administration or Finance, International development, advanced development studies and other related fields including first degree from reputable universities;
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years proven relevant experience in top managerial positions in reputable
    organization(s);

2. JOB VACANCY:
FINANCE AND RESOURCE MOBILISATION OFFICER
JOB TITLE: Finance and Resource Mobilization Officer
DUTY STATION:Lilongwe, Malawi
CONTRACT DURATION: 1 Year Contract
REPORTING TO: The National Programme Director

SCOPE OF WORK
The Resource Mobilisation Officer for COMFWB will be responsible for finance and the development and
implementation of the resource mobilisation and budget strategy of the organization in close liaison with the National Coordinator. He/she will oversee all the activities of resource mobilisation and events organising COMFWB National office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining and establishing good working relationship with the international donor community and cooperating partners with a view to getting support and mobilizing resources for COMFWB Malawi Chapter
  • Lead and oversee all resource mobilization activities for the regions and the country to meet the expected target
  • Explore opportunities for partnerships (and mobilizing and leveraging resources) from emerging donors- private sectors and non-governmental organizations
  • Develop objectives for fundraising, methods, tactics, and focus on bilateral, private sector, public funding,
    foundations
  • Lead in preparing funding requests in response to calls for proposals emanating from donors and Trust Funds
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Experience and expertise in developing and maintaining good relationships with institutional donors or
    corporations.
  • A self-starter, with Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with teams, flexible dynamic
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to work within strict deadlines
  • Committed to excellence and meets the expected high quality standards
  • Independent, innovative and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Social Sciences Degree in Business Accounting/ Studies not restricted to marketing, business Administration, management, Economics, and/or any other relevant discipline.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in non-government projects financial management, mobilizing resources proposal writing.
  • Proven track record of generating significant funding.
  • Experience and knowledge with special accounting systems an added advantage.

 

 

 

3. VACANCY: DIGITAL COMMUNICATION INTERN
JOB TITLE: Digital Marketing and Communications Intern
DUTY STATION: Lilongwe, Malawi
CONTRACT DURATION: 1 Year Contract
REPORTING TO: The National Programme Director

SCOPE OF WORK
The Digital and Communication Officer for COMFWB Malawi Chapter will be responsible for the implementation of the communication strategy of the organization in close liaison officer with the Program Director. He/she will also from time to time advise and take orders from the National Coordinator and the Chairperson on publicity and visibility matters, corporate branding, and corporate communications in general.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a communications strategy for COMFWB Malawi Chapter
  • Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Generate and manage content for updating COMFWBs online platforms (website and social media platforms)
  • Manage the COMFWB Malawi Social Media Pages, develop & profile women entrepreneur business.
  • Enhance security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Operate audio/visual equipment on any promotional activities

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Creative and great interpersonal skills, good public relations/ corporate communications, ability to work
    in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks concurrently, excellent communication and organization skills, full computer literacy and experience in working with PC based equipment, design brochures, magazines, event announcement posters and letters

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Information, Communication and Technology, Public Relations, business or any related communications & Technology fields.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or Communications or any disciplines is an added advantage.
  • At least two years (2) in related experience working with ICT, promotions, marketing, website management, social media platforms, video editing and/or photography and public relations fields
  • Experience working with the private sector and women entrepreneurs will be an added advantage.
