Overview
Tilitonse Foundation (TF) is a grant making facility supported by development partners to support Malawian Non-State Actor (NSAs) to engage in societal transformation through catalyzing more accountable, inclusive and responsive governance. The Foundation was established with the following core objectives:
- To build capacity in Non-State Actors so as to promote, strengthen, enhance and entrench good governance and build sustainability.
- To mobilise and provide funds to NSAs for the promotion and enhancement of good governance in Malawi.
- To provide a platform for NSAs for improving inclusivity, transparency, accountability and responsiveness in governance in Malawi
- To promote and encourage NSAs to engage in societal transformation through catalysing more accountable, inclusive and responsive governance.
Tilitonse Foundation is looking to recruit for the following positions tenable in Lilongwe, Malawi:
1. Position: Knowledge Management and Communication Intern
Scope of Work
The duties and responsibilities of the Intern shall be, but not limited to, the following:
- Support the Specialist in respective work areas
- Support the development of the Community Governance Action Newsletter and other materials including contributing articles, reviewing content and graphic designing of pages.
- Support the management of the Foundation’s social media platforms
- Carry out tasks to document and raise awareness of the Foundation’s work
- Support event management by being responsible for branding and service providers
- Carry out related administrative and procurement tasks for the section
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- At least a University Degree in Communications, Marketing Communications, Journalism or related field.
- Excellent knowledge of graphic and audio design and layout packages (Photoshop, Inkscape, Adobe Audition)
- Practical knowledge and ability to use digital content management systems
- Excellent oral and written communication in English
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage own time, plan, prioritize and meet deadlines.
2. Position: Grants Intern
Scope of Work
The duties and responsibilities of the Intern shall be, but not limited to, the following:
- Assist in various grants making and management functions such as proposal reviews, report writing, financial management and others
- Support management and maintaining of relationship with the Foundation’s Grant Partners.
- Assist in providing technical support to Grant Partners to ensure full compliance with the donor requirements
- Facilitate training, workshops/seminars for grant partners, to foster good understanding of the grants process, implementation, reporting and accounting
- Support monitoring of project implementation against key indicators, taking appropriate action where necessary including flagging risk and appropriate management action
- Providing continuous feedback to all grant partners on grants performance
- Participate in Resource Mobilization initiatives of the Foundation.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Social Science, and any related field.
- Basic understanding of budgeting, project implementation, monitoring and reporting
- Exposure to computerized financial systems, spreadsheet and word processing packages.
3. Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Intern
Scope of Work
The duties and responsibilities of the Intern shall be, but not limited to, the following:
- Aid in compiling and managing all data related to the Foundation’s activities.
- Planning and conducting monitoring visits for Grant Partners.
- Assist in the compilation of reports for various activities and programs.
- Contribute to the operationalization of the Grants Management Information System.
- Support in establishing the Feedback and Complaints Response Management System for the Foundation and its subsequent projects.
- Contribute to the development of Monitoring and Evaluation tools as required.
- Participate in routine project data quality audits (DQAs).
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- At least a BSc in Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Science, Economics, Statistics or any related field.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, etc.)
- Basic understanding of databases/Management Information Systems
- Experience in developing success stories/ case studies
- Possess skills in developing and managing electronic databases, as well as using survey data processing tools like KOBO, ODK, etc.
- Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis
- Excellent oral and written communication in English and customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail
Duration and timing of the assignment
This is a one-year assignment and is scheduled to take place between March 2024 and February 2025
