PLANT OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN – GRADE EG 9 (3 POSITIONS)

The post of Plant Operations Technician-EG9 is tenable in the company at Kapichira and Nkula Power Stations, reporting to the Senior Operations Engineer.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operating Hydro Plant and Switch Gear.
• Checking Operating conditions of Hydro Plant, Switch Gear and interpreting recorded data parameters.
• Preparing and implementing high voltage switching programs.
• Issuing out safety working documents in coordination with Generation Control Centre (GCC) and National Control Centre (NCC).
• Reporting and following up operational emergencies and outstanding defects / permits.
• Giving regular updates of status of and incidents at Power Plant.
• Recording operational events / occurrences.
• Checking availability and test running essential emergencies equipment.
• Checking availability of fire detection and suppression equipment.
• Preparing and writing operations reports.
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Supervisors.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

• A holder of an Advanced Diploma in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering obtained from a reputable, recognized, and accredited institution or a City and Guilds Advanced Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
• Must have at least 3 years’ relevant experience in manufacturing, electrical or related industry.
• Should be aged between 25 and 45.
• Physically fit and willing to work odd hours and weekends.
