Nkhoma Relief and Development (NRD) is a developmental arm of CCAP Nkhoma Synod currently implementing livelihoods, Gender justice and church and community mobilization projects in Mbonekera, Mpando and Katayauta church communities funded by World Renew. With funding from Canadian Food Grains Bank (CFGB) through World Renew NRD intends to respond to hunger in TA Salima, Salima District. In View of this, NRD invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions.

 

Position : Project Coordinator (1)
Location : Salima
Reports to : Project Manager
Contract period : 6 months (1st October 2024 – 31st March 2025)

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, supervise and coordinate the planning, execution, and monitoring of project activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Provide strategic direction and support to his/her team in ensuring smooth and consistent delivery of project activities.
  • Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of project data from the district. Review and submit consolidated progress reports, activity budget, and financial updates to the Program Manager and donors as required.
  • Collaborate with the M&E Officer to oversee district-level assessments, baseline studies, and feedback mechanisms. Ensure timely and effective use of M&E data for program development and improvement.
  • Manage projects budget for the program in the district, ensuring efficient use of resources in line with organizational policies and donor requirements.
  • Identifying the risks or challenges in the project and proactively develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring continuous progress toward project objectives.
  • Supervising projects in progress and ensures that all issues related to the projects are clarified and completed to avoid confusion and interruption during execution of projects.
  • Take records of all project items, and sees to it that they are adequately delivered to the various departments as directed by the project Manager.

 

Qualifications and work experience

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Disaster Management, Development Studies or any related field.
  • At least 3 years post qualification proven experience specifically in humanitarian emergencies (International Non-Governmental Organization).
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of multi-sectoral programs – food security, natural resource management, disaster risk management, livelihoods-based development and emergency response operations
  • Willingness and ability to travel to all project areas, within approved security frameworks
  • Good presentation, training and facilitation skills
  • Proven conceptual skills and an ability to think and plan strategically
  • Cultural and gender sensitivity
  • Prior experience coordinating with various stakeholders, including local government and community organizations."

  • Dedicated Christian of sound standing in their local church
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chichewa.
  • Proven record of integrity and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse problems, make appropriate recommendations, effective decisions including in emergency settings
  • Self-starter and team player.

Remuneration in line with the Church’s Salary Structure will be offered to the successful candidate.
