Overview

The Lilongwe Academy International School (TLAIS) is an international private school, conveniently situated in Area 47/4 Lilongwe behind Silver Stadium. The Lilongwe Academy now invites applications from Candidates who meet the required qualifications and experience as follows:

Position: Resource Teacher

Reporting to: Head of Student support Services (SSS)

Duties: ย ย ย ย 

Among other duties the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:

  • Study each student to determine their strengths, weaknesses and needs
  • Develop individualized learning programmes for students
  • Prepare and adapt general teaching materials for children with special needs
  • Check and assess studentsโ€™ skills and performance and provide feedback for improvement
  • Enhance learning through special needs techniques, facilities, and equipment
  • Treat students with respect and dignity in the classroom

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilitiesย 

Qualifications

  • A university degree in the relevant subject.
  • Very fluent in the English language.
  • Be able to work outside classroom in the open sun.

 

Knowledge and Skills

A successful Special Needs Education Teacher must have a range of skills and qualifications to perform their duties effectively. These skills and qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of teaching techniques for students with special needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Patience and ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility, openness to new ideas and ability to identify studentsโ€™ weaknesses and strengths.
  • Ability to create a conducive and positive learning environment.
  • Empathy, sensitivity, and compassion.
  • Strong interpersonal and leaderships qualities to engage students, parents, and other professionals in the educational system.
