VACANCY: Senior Customer Service – Reservation officer

STATUS: One Year Contract – Salaried

African Parks (AP) is a not-for-profit organization that secures a mandate to conserve through Public-Private Partnerships with Governments and communities for the rehabilitation and long-term management of protected areas in Africa, and here in Malawi, AP has secured this mandate for the management of Majete Wildlife Reserve, Liwonde National Park and Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve.

An opportunity has arisen for the post of Senior Customer Service – Reservations Officer at Majete Wildlife Reserve in Chikwawa.

This Position will report to the Assistant Tourism Manager.


  • Handle enquiries relating to tourism in Majete
  • Actively understand, sell and market Majete to guests.
  • Handle all telephonic and email enquiries on time and professionally.
  • Maintain high level of service delivery.
  • Manage all staff under his or her control professionally as per African Parks requirements.
  • Welcome guests to Majete and provide relevant information and assistance to visitors
  • Assisting with general management of the Entrance facilities including shop and Mwembezi restaurant
  • Maintaining records and database for reservations, sales and tourism statistics and preparing relevant technical reports
  • Assisting with oversight of the day visitor and research camp including quality checks, invoicing and stock control as well as reporting maintenance issues.
  • Carry out any other reasonable and relevant tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the tourism management
  • Preparing technical reports entrance gate, Shop, restaurant, research camp and day visitor site.
  • Carry out any other relevant tasks that may be assigned from time to time.


  • Qualified Tourism Diploma or Degree with minimum of three years’ experience
  • Has previous bookings and reservations experience
  • Must have a clear and audible phone voice and a professional but friendly attitude
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills, confident, comfortable and capable in dealing with guests from different countries, students, volunteers and staff.
  • Relevant experience, working with international tourism agents will be considered an asset.
  • A high level of computer literacy is essential.
  • Ability to work under pressure at times, while maintaining high quality results.
  • Be honest, highly organized, responsible, self-motivated and able to take initiative under minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to remain focused in an environment with constant interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in diverse professional backgrounds.
  • Willing to move to the district and secure own accommodation. Fluency in English both verbal and written
  • Work tourism flexi hours.
