Overview
VACANCY - Tutor and Matron
The Chilema Ecumenical Training and Conference Centre invites applications from qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Tutor in the Community Home Craft Training Programme.
The Tutor will be responsible for teaching Clothing and Textile as well as Food and Nutrition and should also be ready to work as a Centre Matron, supervising the standard and quality of food production and hygiene at the Centre. This role requires the ability to comprehend complex situations.
Responsible to: The Principal Community Home Craft Training Programme
Main Tasks:
- Teaching Clothing and Textile subject
- Teaching Food and Nutrition subject.
- Ensure that all teaching and learning materials are available before each
- Prepare and mark examinations and monthly student assessments.
- Prepare and supervise all practical work and assessments.
As a Matron;
- Oversee and supervise all kitchen staff to ensure that duties are fulfilled as per set standards.
- Ensure that the entire Kitchen is kept clean and hygienic at all times and be able to implement quality standards as per the Malawi Bureau of Standards
- To manage the daily running of the hostels and Chalets.
- Reporting maintenance issues in the hostels and Chalets
- To advise on the replacement or renewal of bedding, fixtures, and furnishings.
- Ensure the hostels are clean and presentable to maintain high standards.
- To order adequate supplies of materials and equipment (items described in the Housekeeping budget and other domestic materials), Kitchen and Housekeeping stores through the prescribed avenues within CETCC and store them safely.
- Keeping a record of the purchases, and submitting kitchen and hostel returns to the accountant.
- To carry out any other reasonable request associated with the care for and management of the students at the Home Craft Training Program.
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven Experience in Clothing and Textile.
- Proven Experience in Food and Nutrition.
- Proven experience as Matron or ability to work as a Matron.
- Ability to teach
- Ability to divide responsibilities and monitor
- Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
- Ready to bring new ideas to the Centre.
- Self-starter and willing to work odd hours.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism management.
- Certificate in Farm Home Management. Those with a Diploma will have an added advantage.
- Other relevant certificates from recognized institutions will also be acknowledged.
- Malawi School Certificate of Education.
- At least Minimum of 2 years experience in a reputable institution.
